In a legal development involving a pillar of holiday cinema, veteran actor Daniel Stern was formally charged with a misdemeanor count of soliciting prostitution. The 68-year-old actor, best known for his iconic role as the bumbling burglar Marv in the Home Alone
franchise, faces the charge following an undercover operation conducted by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office late last year.
The incident that led to the charges occurred on December 10, 2025, at a hotel in Camarillo, California. According to court documents and statements from the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, Stern was cited during an alleged sting operation. Law enforcement officials clarified that Stern was not arrested or taken into custody at the scene; instead, he was issued a misdemeanor citation and released on his own recognizance. After reviewing the evidence submitted by sheriff’s deputies, prosecutors decided this week to move forward with a formal criminal filing.
