Soccer player Jorginho has issued an update weeks after accusing a security guard he believed was linked to Chappell Roan of harassing his 11-year-old daughter, saying new information has changed his understanding of the situation and that he now considers the matter resolved.
In a statement shared on Instagram on April 13, Jorginho explained that he initially spoke out following an incident during Lollapalooza Brazil. At the time, he reacted after being told that his daughter, Ada Law, and his wife Catherine Harding had been approached by a security guard in what he described as an intimidating manner. He said his response was driven by his instinct to protect his family.
Jorginho, who is a stepfather to Ada, acknowledged that his earlier comments were made quickly, based on the information available to him at the time. He emphasized that the incident did occur as originally described, but said additional details have since come to light that clarified key aspects of what happened.
According to Jorginho, the situation became clearer after communication between the families and their respective teams. He noted that Roan reached out privately to Harding and expressed understanding regarding the incident. It was also established that the singer had no knowledge of the interaction and had not instructed anyone to approach the family.
Further clarification came when the security guard involved confirmed that he was not working for Roan but was instead representing another artist staying at the same hotel. This revelation shifted Jorginho's perspective, leading him to conclude that the situation had been misunderstood.
While he maintained that the approach toward his family was inappropriate, he acknowledged that it was not connected to Roan. He expressed regret over the impact the situation had on all parties involved, including his family and the singer.
Jorginho also stressed the importance of handling such matters with fairness and accuracy, noting that while he will always defend his family, he recognizes when circumstances are not as they first appeared. He thanked supporters for their understanding during what he described as a sensitive time.
He concluded by discouraging online hostility and urging respect and empathy, stating that, from his perspective, the issue is now closed.
