Katy Perry has strongly denied allegations made by actress Ruby Rose, after the claims surfaced in a series of social media posts.
In a statement released through her representative, Perry dismissed the accusations, saying, "The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies."
The statement continued by asserting that Rose has "a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named."
Rose, 40, shared the allegations on Threads, claiming the incident occurred nearly two decades ago at a nightclub in Melbourne when she was in her early 20s. "Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a shit what she thinks," Rose wrote.
In her posts, she said it had taken years for her to publicly speak about the experience, citing the long-term impact of trauma.
She also addressed why she had not initially reported the alleged incident, writing that she was "not interested in filing a report over this, not when I haven't even filed a report for the numerous rapes at the hands of grown men."
However, she later indicated a shift in approach, stating she would go to a police station to explore whether any of her experiences could be investigated, even if they might fall outside the statute of limitations. Shortly after, she confirmed, "I did it," in reference to visiting authorities.
Rose further told followers that she had previously kept the matter private and had only spoken about it in a different way in the past. She also suggested that multiple people may have witnessed the alleged incident, while maintaining that she had evidence to support her claims.
"But she is more than welcome to sue me (she won't, because it happened, I have photos and it was literally in public and witnessed by multiple people)," Rose said.
The posts quickly gained traction online, drawing a mix of reactions. Some users expressed support for Rose, while others questioned the timing and details of the allegations. She continued to engage with commenters, reiterating her claims and thanking those who believed her account.
Perry has not personally commented beyond the statement issued by her representative. No legal action or formal charges related to the allegations have been publicly confirmed.
