Prioritizing a massive $82.7 billion merger with Netflix, the board of Warner Bros. Discovery has unanimously turned down an improved buyout offer from David Ellison’s Paramount Skydance. Chairman Samuel Di Piazza explained that the Netflix deal—which includes the sale of the WBD studio and HBO—remains the superior option across "multiple key areas." The decision reinforces WBD’s commitment to the strategic pivot it finalized last December, despite continued pressure from rival bidders.

Fans who have been missing familiar faces from The Rookie may have plenty to look forward to in the upcoming season. As anticipation builds for the season 8 premiere airing Tuesday, Jan. 6, cast members Deric Augustine and Lisseth Chavez are offering intriguing hints about what viewers can expect.

In a conversation with PEOPLE, Augustine, who plays Officer Miles Penn, teased that a significant return is on the horizon. Augustine described the scenes as powerful and emotionally rich, adding that the moment is such a major spoiler he cannot reveal more, though he believes viewers will appreciate the depth of the performances.

The series finale of Stranger Things left fans with one lingering question: did Eleven survive after sacrificing herself to destroy the Upside Down?

In the final episode of season five, Eleven appears to give her life to stop Vecna and the Mind Flayer, prompting many viewers to believe her story ended in tragedy. However, an 18-month time jump offers a more hopeful, yet uncertain possibility. Mike Wheeler tells the rest of the group that Eleven escaped with help from her sister Kali and is living quietly in a remote village near cascading waterfalls, a future he and Eleven once imagined together.

That explanation, though, is never confirmed onscreen.

When The Pitt first arrived on HBO Max nearly a year ago, it did so without the usual advantages of a built in franchise or a cast packed with marquee names. Aside from the lingering debate with the Michael Crichton estate over its perceived resemblance to ER, the series stood on its own as a grounded and restrained medical drama. What it lacked in flash, it made up for in precision, empathy, and a deep respect for character driven storytelling. That quiet confidence has since paid off. Season Two returns with the show firmly established as one of television’s most acclaimed dramas, bolstered by its recent Emmy win for outstanding drama series and several additional awards.
