Kate Beckinsale stunned viewers during her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on November 24, sharing a bizarre story involving her daughter Lily Sheen's boyfriend — a story she says became "literally the only bright spot" during two difficult years marked by the deaths of both her parents.

Beckinsale, 52, explained that as she navigated "a tough couple of years" after losing her mother, Judy Loe, in July, and her stepfather, Roy, in January 2024, an unexpected distraction arrived through Lily's partner. "He laid two eggs in a week is what the bright spot was," she told Kimmel, leaving the host visibly confused.

According to Beckinsale, the first incident happened when the boyfriend "went to the bathroom and then was very surprised to find that he had laid an egg." She insisted the object "had a shell and a yolk" and "came out the route that it would come out a hen." She added that he was "genuinely scared," explaining that he "crushed it, to see what was inside" and discovered "a yolk ... like a hard-boiled one, kind of cooked inside him."

A week later, while Lily was away, Beckinsale received another message from her daughter saying, "he's done it again." When Kimmel questioned whether she believed the story, Beckinsale said she did "because he was so scared." She even showed Kimmel a photo privately, describing it as "a little bit gross" and "quite medical." Kimmel's jaw dropped before he declared, "Your daughter's boyfriend is the Easter Bunny — there's no other way to explain this!"

Beckinsale said she became deeply involved in trying to understand the mystery. "I really did need a distraction because everything was so horrible," she explained. She contacted multiple doctors, who circulated the case widely. One asked whether he had eaten "a lychee," while others suggested theories she quickly dismissed. Some doctors even speculated it might be "some sort of complicated masturbation thing, which it wasn't."

Despite insisting the story is real, Beckinsale also admitted she initially wondered whether it was "a little embellished" or "attention seeking." Still, she said she considers the boyfriend family, adding that he is one of the "five people" she has ever yelled at: "Three producers, an ex-husband, and him."

After the interview aired, viewers online called it "the strangest, yet funniest, interview I've ever seen," with many unsure if Beckinsale was joking. But the actress stood by every detail, shrugging as she told Kimmel, "It's an egg."
