The romantic drama Off Campus is preparing to return for its second season, with Dean Di Laurentis and Allie Hayes taking centre stage in a storyline expected to bring fresh romance, emotional tension and more complicated relationships.
The series confirmed on November 5 that its second season will premiere on April 28. Actors Stephen Kalyn and Mika Abdalla, who portray Dean and Allie respectively, announced the return through a playful Instagram video.
In the clip, Kalyn appears at a door and asks viewers whether they have missed the characters. Abdalla then confirms that Dean and Allie are officially returning before the door closes to reveal the new season's premiere date.
The upcoming instalment follows an explosive first season finale that ended with a confrontation involving Dean, Allie and fellow hockey player Hunter Davenport, played by Charlie Evans.
The conflict emerged from a complicated love triangle involving Allie and the two hockey players. Hunter's growing involvement in their relationship eventually contributed to a physical confrontation with Dean, leaving viewers anticipating the consequences.
Season two will focus on Dean and Allie's developing romance. The pair began as friends with benefits, but their relationship is expected to take a more prominent direction as the story progresses.
Their romance is drawn from The Score, the third novel in Elle Kennedy's Off Campus book series. The television adaptation, however, has adjusted the order of certain relationships to suit the show's storytelling.
Showrunner Louisa Levy previously explained that introducing Dean and Allie's relationship earlier allowed viewers to become familiar with the characters before they became the central romantic pairing.
Meanwhile, John Logan, portrayed by Antoni Cipriano, will begin developing his own relationship with Grace Ivers, played by India Fowler.
Their romance originates from The Mistake, the second novel in Kennedy's book series. The author has expressed excitement about seeing the characters brought to life, particularly praising the chemistry between the two actors.
Grace is expected to bring a different personality to the series. Kennedy described her as awkward, unpredictable and prone to rambling when nervous, qualities she believes audiences will find relatable.
Despite the change in the central romance, Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham, played by Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli, will remain important members of the ensemble.
With several relationships developing simultaneously, the new season promises to expand the show's romantic universe while maintaining the friendships, rivalries and emotional complications that attracted viewers in its debut season.
