Manchester United have submitted a third bid for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, with the potential deal valued at up to £70 million. The offer includes an initial payment of £65 million, with an additional £5 million in performance-related add-ons. Brentford have not yet issued a response to the proposal.

United remain optimistic about securing Mbeumo's signature and have been working to finalize the deal before the team travels to the United States on Tuesday for a pre-season tour. The squad, led by manager Ruben Amorim, will be based primarily in Chicago during their 13-day trip, which will include three matches. The club has made it a priority to complete the transfer in time for Amorim to begin integrating Mbeumo into the squad's tactical setup.

While Manchester United have also been linked with Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez in recent weeks, Mbeumo has remained their main focus. The 25-year-old enjoyed an impressive season with Brentford, scoring 20 Premier League goals, and attracted interest from several clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur. The London side, now managed by former Brentford coach Thomas Frank, had expressed interest, but Mbeumo has shown a clear preference for a move to Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Brentford may face further disruption to their attack as Newcastle United have shown interest in Yoane Wissa, the club's other key forward.

Amorim has been vocal about Manchester United's lack of clinical finishing, a weakness that was evident last season. The team scored just 44 Premier League goals, marking their lowest tally in a top-flight campaign since being relegated in the 1973-74 season. In response, United have already secured the signings of forward Matheus Cunha and defender Diego Leon during the summer window.

If Mbeumo's move goes through, it could lead to a reshuffling of the squad, including Bruno Fernandes taking on a deeper midfield role. Cunha is expected to occupy one of the two inside forward positions in Amorim's preferred system behind a central striker. The addition of Mbeumo would likely reduce the chances of a return for current out-of-favor attackers Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Antony.

United are set to begin their Premier League campaign against Arsenal at Old Trafford on August 17.
