Robert Redford, the Oscar-winning actor and director whose career spanned more than six decades, has died at the age of 89.

The Hollywood icon passed away on Tuesday morning at his home in the mountains of Utah, according to his publicist, who described it as "the place he loved, surrounded by those he loved." Redford's family has requested privacy as they mourn.
