Netflix has officially pulled the plug on Fubar, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s spy action series, after just two seasons. The cancellation comes roughly six weeks after the release of Season 2, which quietly debuted on June 12, 2025.

Despite a high-profile launch in May 2023 driven by Schwarzenegger’s global star power, Fubar struggled to regain momentum in its second outing. Season 1 had opened strong, drawing about 11 million views during its premiere weekend. Season 2, however, got off to a slow start. It managed only 2.2 million views from Thursday through Sunday during its first weekend, barely scraping into Netflix’s Top 10 for English-language TV at #10. In its first full week, the season peaked at #7 with 3.3 million views, before dropping to #10 again in Week 3 with just 1.8 million views. After that, it fell out of the Top 10 entirely.

The long gap between seasons—over two years—may have played a role in the decline. In the highly competitive streaming space, audience retention and timing are critical. Even with Schwarzenegger’s enduring appeal and the added draw of Monica Barbaro, who earned an Oscar nomination between seasons for A Complete Unknown, the numbers weren’t enough to sustain a third installment.

Fubar centered on CIA operative Luke Brunner (Schwarzenegger), who is on the verge of retirement when he discovers a family secret that forces him back into the field. Monica Barbaro starred as his daughter, Emma Brunner. The father-daughter dynamic was central to the show’s mix of action and comedy. Season 2 introduced Carrie-Anne Moss as Greta Nelso, a former East German spy with a fiery past involving Luke.

The ensemble also included Milan Carter, Fortune Feimster, Travis Van Winkle, Fabiana Udenio, Aparna Brielle, Guy Burnet, Andy Buckley, Jay Baruchel, Barbara Eve Harris, and Scott Thompson. Nick Santora served as showrunner and executive producer alongside Schwarzenegger. Additional executive producers included Adam Higgs, Scott Sullivan, Phil Abraham, Amy Pocha, Seth Cohen, and Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell.

Fubar now joins a short list of Netflix series canceled in 2025, including The Recruit, Pulse, and The Residence. The streamer has otherwise been renewing scripted content at a healthy pace, with nearly 20 titles continuing into new seasons this year—such as Untamed (Season 2), Tires (Season 3), Ransom Canyon (Season 2), and Virgin River (Season 8).

While Fubar won’t be back for another mission, it remains a notable entry in Netflix’s push into star-driven action television.
