Adam Levine wants Blake Shelton to know one thing. When the Maroon 5 frontman learned that his best friend and former co-star will be making a comeback to The Voice to perform at the NBC singing competition series' upcoming season 27 finale on May 20, he responded in a humorous way.

"Boo!" Backstage, Adam exclusively told E! News on May 12. "Blake Shelton, do you listen? Am I audible at home right now? Since I dislike you, I'm not thrilled about your return."

The singer of "One More Night" was, of course, just making fun of his longtime friend, since the rivalry between the two is characteristic.

However, it remains to be seen if Adam, who himself rejoined the coaching staff this season after leaving the series in 2019, will do so again.

"Perhaps," he said surreptitiously. "Maybe...if they ask me."

Adam is certain that his team, together with other coaches John Legend, Kelsea Ballerini, and Michael Bublé, has a strong chance of capturing the season 27 Voice trophy.

"I feel good," acknowledged the 46-year-old. "It will be difficult. There are some deserving rivals there. However, I feel OK. I believe my team is very great, and I wish them the very best. That's about all we can do right now. We have little control over it. You've just got to kind of cheer them on."

While Adam noted he's gone "from coach to cheerleader" ahead of the May 20 finale, he also teased of Team Adam, "We still got some tricks up our sleeves."

While fans will have to check in to see Adam's reunion with colleague The Voice O.G. Blake, the rocker recently gave insight into their friendly rivalry over the last 14 years.

"They threw these four people in these four turning chairs," he told of the series' 2011 launch with fellow coaches Blake, CeeLo Green, and Christina Aguilera last month on Late Night With Seth Meyers. "Back then, we were like, 'This is weird.' We all felt like part of this team."

"We started dissing each other casually," he continued. "And then we had a really specific moment where we were like, I was like, 'Is there a too far for you? Is there an over the line for you'? He was like, 'Buddy, you hit me as hard as you want. You will never go too hard.' And he stayed pretty true to that. I got more sensitive than he did."
