Mubi has picked up all Italian rights to Agon, the feature directorial debut from Giulio Bertelli, ahead of its premiere in the Critics’ Week section at this year’s Venice Film Festival. The streaming platform and distributor plans to release the sports-themed drama in Italian cinemas on August 29, marking the launch of its theatrical slate in Italy.

Amazon MGM Studios has appointed Charlie Coleman as its new Head of International Theatrical Marketing, a move signaling the studio’s commitment to expanding its global film footprint. The announcement was made by Sue Kroll, Head of Global Marketing, Film and Series, in a company-wide email.

Tom Holland is putting the mask back on, but this time, he’s trading in green screens for real streets. The actor recently opened up about the direction of his next Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, during an interview with “Flip Your Wig” at his Bero Padel Classic tournament, and he teased a major shift in how the movie will be made. After the COVID-impacted production of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which was largely filmed on soundstages, Holland says the new installment is going “old school.”

Johnny Depp made a striking appearance on the red carpet in London for the U.K. premiere of Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness, marking his return to directing after more than two decades. Dakota Johnson and Ro Donnelly’s production banner, TeaTime Pictures, has signed a first-look television deal with Sony Pictures Television, solidifying a new chapter in the company’s growing influence in scripted storytelling. Under the agreement, TeaTime will develop and produce scripted television projects for both streaming and cable platforms in partnership with Sony’s prestigious indie TV studio.
