Warner Bros. And Legendary’s A Minecraft Movie is raking in big numbers at the box office, pre-showing over $7 million on Thursday alone and now on track to collect a weekend of over $75 million. The latest theatrical outing of The Chosen franchise, The Chosen: Last Supper – Part 1, recorded a surprise box office stint in its debut weekend. The movie earned an estimated $11.5 million in the US, ranking third in the weekend tally behind A Working Man ($15.2 million) and Snow White ($14.2 million). The successful debut shows the growing success of faith-based movies and attests to the ability of The Chosen in attracting a faithful viewer base.

A new documentary, Stan Lee: The Final Chapter, will try to shed light on the alleged exploitation and abuse Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee endured in his final years. Directed by Jon Bolerjack, who was previously an assistant to Lee, the documentary is based on extensive footage taken over the final four years of Lee’s life. Bolerjack’s close relationship with Lee allowed him to capture the nuances and struggles the legendary creator went through as he deteriorated in health.

His passing was confirmed by his daughter, Mercedes, who revealed he succumbed to pneumonia, years after battling throat cancer.
