Warner Bros. Pictures is doubling down on its commitment to the Indian film market through a major new partnership aimed at reimagining its global hits for Indian audiences. The studio has inked an exclusive five-film deal with Bhanushali Studios Limited (BSL) and JOAT Films to create Bollywood adaptations of classic Warner Bros. Titles.
The deal is designed to reinterpret Warner Bros.’ Iconic properties through an Indian cultural lens while preserving the universal themes that made these stories resonate globally. Warner Bros. Pictures will handle worldwide distribution of the upcoming films, ensuring a broad international reach.
“India represents one of the world’s most vibrant and sophisticated film markets, with audiences who deeply appreciate authentic, locally rooted narratives,” said Denzil Dias, VP and Managing Director, India, Warner Bros. Pictures. “This partnership allows us to combine our storytelling heritage with exceptional local talent to create films that will resonate profoundly with Indian audiences while maintaining the universal appeal that defines great cinema.”
Bhanushali Studios, led by producer Vinod Bhanushali, has seen strong success in recent years. Its critically acclaimed streaming feature Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai won five Filmfare OTT Awards, including Best Web Original Film. The studio also has an active slate that includes Janhit Mein Jaari, Main Atal Hoon, Costao, Bhaiyya Ji, and Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam, across both theatrical and digital platforms. BSL recently entered a three-film deal with Hansal Mehta’s True Story Films, further solidifying its footprint in Indian cinema.
“We’re incredibly excited to partner with Warner Bros. Pictures, a studio that has shaped cinematic history across generations,” said Bhanushali. “This collaboration represents a unique opportunity to reimagine the stories by Warner Bros. Pictures through an Indian creative lens, blending emotion, scale, and culture for audiences both at home and internationally.”
Adding further weight to the collaboration is JOAT Films’ Jack Nguyen, who brings over three decades of industry experience and holds a first-look deal with Warner Bros. Pictures. Nguyen is also behind the upcoming Korean adaptation of The Intern, which aligns with the studio’s international remake strategy.
“I’m excited to partner with BSL to adapt Warner Bros. Pictures titles that will resonate with Indian audiences,” Nguyen said.
Development has already begun on the first project in the pipeline, with details on the title and production timelines expected soon.
