Amazon MGM Studios has appointed Charlie Coleman as its new Head of International Theatrical Marketing, a move signaling the studio’s commitment to expanding its global film footprint. The announcement was made by Sue Kroll, Head of Global Marketing, Film and Series, in a company-wide email.
Coleman, who officially starts on August 18, joins Amazon MGM Studios following a successful run at Warner Bros. There, he played a key role in the international marketing campaigns for some of the most commercially and culturally impactful films of recent years. These include Barbie ($1.44 billion worldwide and Warner Bros.’ All-time top grosser), Dune ($1.1 billion across two films), and A Minecraft Movie, which has earned $955 million so far in 2025, making it the second highest-grossing MPA title this year.
Based in London, Coleman will report directly to Kroll and collaborate closely with Stephen Bruno, the studio’s Head of Film Marketing, as well as the distribution and PR teams.
“Charlie is an exceptional executive with deep expertise in global marketing and a passion for storytelling that resonates across cultures,” Kroll said in her note. “He is highly regarded for his strategic approach, creativity, and collaborative leadership style.”
Before his tenure at Warner Bros., Coleman held various roles at The Walt Disney Company, working in both London and Los Angeles. His broad international experience and marketing acumen make him a valuable addition as Amazon MGM continues to invest in its worldwide theatrical strategy.
Kroll emphasized that this appointment marks a key milestone in the studio’s ongoing efforts to scale its global marketing infrastructure. “Charlie’s leadership, combined with the outstanding work already happening across this team, positions us to continue raising the bar as we bring our films to audiences worldwide,” she noted.
The announcement comes amid a banner year for Amazon MGM Studios. The studio recently scored one of its biggest streaming hits with G20, starring Viola Davis, which racked up over 50 million Prime Video viewers and now ranks among the platform’s top 10 most-watched action titles. Meanwhile, casting news like Lily Gladstone joining The Thomas Crown Affair signals the studio’s continued drive to attract high-caliber talent.
With Coleman stepping into this pivotal role, Amazon MGM Studios is clearly doubling down on its global ambitions and theatrical marketing prowess.
