Lewis Hamilton finally got his moment in red, taking his first Formula 1 victory for Ferrari with a commanding drive at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona.

The seven-time world champion crossed the line ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and McLaren's Lando Norris, ending a lengthy wait for victory and delivering Ferrari their first win since late 2024.

Hamilton started alongside pole-sitter Russell but was unable to grab the lead off the line. Ferrari instead opted for an aggressive three-stop strategy, and the gamble paid off when a Virtual Safety Car period handed Hamilton a crucial advantage.

Once out in front, Hamilton never looked back, building a comfortable gap and controlling the race to the chequered flag.

An emotional Hamilton celebrated over team radio, saying: "Grazie a tutti. You've helped me achieve this dream. I am so proud of you."

He added: "To my family, I love you, and to the fans, thank you for continuing to remind me who I am."

Speaking after the race, Hamilton admitted the victory meant a great deal to him.

"I watched Ferrari have all that success when I was younger," he said. "I've always wondered what it would be like to win in that car and it has come."

While Hamilton was celebrating, it was heartbreak for championship leader Kimi Antonelli.

The Mercedes rookie had spent much of the afternoon battling teammate Russell and looked set for a strong result after pulling off a brilliant move into second place with just a few laps remaining. Moments later, however, his car lost power and rolled to a stop, forcing him to retire from the race.

Russell inherited second place, while Norris completed the podium in what became Formula 1's first all-British top three since 1968.

There was more late disappointment for Ferrari when Charles Leclerc retired after fighting his way through the field from 10th on the grid.

Max Verstappen finished fourth for Red Bull, with Oscar Piastri taking fifth for McLaren. Isack Hadjar, Pierre Gasly, Franco Colapinto, Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad rounded out the top 10.

Hamilton's victory also boosts his championship hopes.
