Fans of in the United States will soon have a new place to stream the iconic science fiction series after AMC+ secured exclusive streaming rights for the beloved BBC production. Beginning June 11, AMC+ will officially become the exclusive streaming home for the long running British series in the U.S., bringing 13 seasons and 176 episodes, including specials, to subscribers across the country.
The move marks another major chapter for one of television’s most celebrated franchises. Produced by BBC, Doctor Who has remained one of the most recognizable science fiction series in television history, attracting generations of viewers with its stories of time travel, alien worlds, and epic adventures across the universe. The series follows the Doctor, a regenerating Time Lord who travels through time and space while battling enemies and protecting civilizations.
The 2005 revival of the show introduced modern audiences to a new era of Doctor Who and featured several acclaimed actors taking on the role of the Doctor throughout its run. These included Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi and Jodie Whittaker. Each actor helped shape a unique era of the series while building an intensely loyal global fanbase often referred to as the Whoniverse.

The announcement is also significant because it reconnects the franchise with AMC Global Media owned BBC America, where the series aired in the United States during much of its modern run. This year also marks 20 years since Doctor Who first premiered in the U.S., making the AMC+ partnership a symbolic moment for longtime fans of the show.

She noted that the franchise is defined by iconic worlds, passionate fan communities, and lasting cultural impact. Thomasma also expressed excitement about welcoming the Whoniverse to AMC+, saying the platform hopes to both reconnect longtime fans with the series and introduce new audiences to one of television’s most beloved franchises.
Doctor Who now joins a growing collection of genre focused content available on AMC+. The platform is already home to franchises such as and , alongside fan favorite series including , , and .
With more than six decades of history and a devoted global following, Doctor Who’s arrival on AMC+ represents another important milestone for the legendary sci fi franchise as it continues to expand its reach to audiences around the world.
