After more than a decade of replay dominance, MTV is saying goodbye to Ridiculousness.

The long-running viral clip show, hosted by Rob Dyrdek, will officially end with its 46th season after 14 years on air. While episodes already filmed will continue to roll out through 2026, MTV has opted not to produce new installments, marking the close of an era for one of the network's most recognizable titles.

Sources familiar with the decision say the cancellation is part of a larger rebrand under Paramount Global, aimed at "curating a fresher mix of formats and creative voices." The move signals MTV's intent to move away from its dependence on Ridiculousness, which, for years, consumed much of the channel's lineup.

Since premiering in August 2011, Ridiculousness aired more than 1,700 episodes, making it one of MTV's most enduring shows. It became infamous for filling hours of the network's schedule, with reruns sometimes occupying over 100 hours a week. The series featured Dyrdek alongside cohosts Sterling "Steelo" Brim, Lauren "Lolo" Wood, and formerly Chanel West Coast, whose infectious laugh became synonymous with the franchise until her exit in 2023.

Chanel later said she wanted to focus on her own creative ventures, telling fans, "I've been manifesting this since I was a little girl. This next chapter is what I've always dreamed of."

Behind the scenes, Ridiculousness was also a massive business for Dyrdek. A 2024 Bloomberg report revealed he earned upwards of $32 million annually through on-camera and executive producer fees, reflecting the show's relentless production schedule and MTV's reliance on its ratings stability.

MTV has confirmed that reruns will continue airing indefinitely, and select seasons will stream on Paramount+. But for new content, the network is pivoting to experimental series and reality-driven formats in 2026.

The end of Ridiculousness marks a defining shift for MTV, a network once built on cultural chaos now searching for a new identity beyond viral laughter and endless replays.
