As Stranger Things prepares for its highly anticipated fifth and final season, Finn Wolfhard is reflecting on the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter in both his personal and professional life.

The 22-year-old actor, known for his role as Mike Wheeler, recently confirmed he is single, offering a rare glimpse into his personal life. "I'm single," Wolfhard told Variety, adding, "I feel like that's something that I'm also kind of thinking about right now... This is the time kind of where I have been doing the most work kind of in my life." While discussing why he's chosen not to pursue a serious relationship, he admitted, "Maybe it's been subconsciously, what's the word? deliberate? To not have a committed partner considering how at the rate that I'm traveling all the time and working and stuff, I just feel like it's not the time to do that."

This sense of transition extended to the set of Stranger Things, where the final shoot took place on December 20 at the Atlanta studios that have hosted the series since 2016. Wolfhard recalled an emotional last day: "When I walked out from doing the scene, it was just one of the greatest moments in my entire life. I didn't process it at the time because it was just so emotional. There was a lot of Champagne."

The moment was witnessed by a large group that included Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos and fellow cast members Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, and Maya Hawke — all of whom returned to the set even after wrapping their own scenes. "I turned around from the monitors, and it was hundreds of people just hanging out for the first time in the same room after 10 years of working," Wolfhard said. "So if that wasn't enough of a mindfuck there, it was also like, 'Wait, that means it's ending.'"

As for what happened in the finale, he teased, "There was a moment where there was true joy from everyone because of a moment that happened."

Off-screen, Wolfhard revealed he once accurately predicted a Stranger Things spinoff idea that mirrors what the Duffer Brothers are now developing something he compared to Twin Peaks and envisioned as an anthology that wouldn't even reference the original show.
