Post Malone is set to headline the closing ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, taking the stage ahead of the tournament final at New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday, July 19.
The Grammy-nominated singer and rapper will perform during the pre-match celebration, which begins at 1:30 p.m. ET, approximately 90 minutes before kickoff. The ceremony will mark the conclusion of the 39-day tournament, bringing together music, football, and culture before the world champions are crowned.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup has featured 48 national teams competing across 16 host cities in Canada, Mexico, and the United States, making it the largest edition of the tournament in history.
Post Malone's appearance adds another milestone to a career that has seen him become one of the music industry's most versatile artists. Known for blending hip-hop, pop, rock, and country influences, he has enjoyed success across multiple genres while building a global fan base.
His latest album, F-1 Trillion, marked his first full-length country project and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Throughout his career, he has released several diamond-certified hits, including "Rockstar," "Psycho," "Congratulations," "Better Now," "White Iverson," "I Fall Apart," "Circles," and "Sunflower." The latter became the highest-certified single in Recording Industry Association of America history.
In a statement announcing the performance, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said Post Malone's appearance will help celebrate the tournament's journey while building excitement before the final between the two remaining teams.
The singer will join an already star-studded lineup scheduled to appear during the closing ceremony. Actors, musicians, and entertainers including Tom Cruise, Jennifer Hudson, Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger, Robbie Williams, and IShowSpeed are also expected to participate in the festivities.
The World Cup final will also feature the tournament's first-ever halftime show. Scheduled to last 11 minutes, the performance has been curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and will include appearances by Shakira, Madonna, BTS, Justin Bieber, and Coldplay.
Infantino described the event as a celebration that brings together the worlds of football and entertainment while highlighting the global reach of the competition. He added that the ceremony will reflect the passion shown by the 48 participating teams, the 16 host cities, and millions of supporters who have followed the tournament.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup final will be broadcast live from New York New Jersey Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
