In 1998, Anastacia appeared on MTV's The Cut with her tinted glasses, blonde pigtails, and an unforgettable voice. At the time, record executives had dismissed her as unmarketable. They wanted her to sound like Celine Dion, look like Britney Spears, and ditch the glasses she relied on to see. Yet the world discovered something else entirely, a sound that growled, purred, and soared with soul.

That performance of Not That Kind sparked a frenzy. Michael Jackson himself reached out to sign her, and suddenly labels that once doubted her were scrambling for a chance. By 2000, Anastacia released her debut album Not That Kind, featuring I'm Outta Love, a track that dominated charts across 19 countries and went platinum in the UK.

Now, at 55, Anastacia is celebrating the album's 25th anniversary with an ambitious international tour. Fans both old and new are filling arenas, from longtime supporters who cherished her Aretha Franklin–inspired power to younger audiences discovering her music for the first time.

Her journey has not been without obstacles. Blacklisted from American radio in her early years, she found her greatest success in Europe. Later, she survived breast cancer—twice—and emerged stronger, both personally and professionally. Despite setbacks, her optimism and resilience became her trademarks.

As social media revives hits like Left Outside Alone and Paid My Dues, Anastacia is simultaneously working on two new albums. What began as a story of rejection has become one of triumph, longevity, and the enduring power of authenticity.
