You can be sure that Huntr/x is still alive. Stars Audrey Nuna, Rei Ami, and EJAE discussed the potential for a sequel at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, three months after K-POP Demon Hunters debuted on Netflix and went on to become an internet sensation.
In a cheeky interview with E! News outside UBS Arena on September 7, EJAE said, "Stay tuned." "You know, who knows?"
For her part, Audrey said, "We're waiting for the call too."
"As soon as we know, we'll let you know," Rei said, confirming that the cast has yet to hear anything.
Naturally, the three singers acknowledge that they are still adjusting to the fame that accompanied the original movie's success. Ultimately, the film quickly surpassed 236 million views on Netflix, making it the most-watched movie on the service.
Regarding the success of the movie, Rei continued, "We're all still processing." It's quite a bit. It has been a new record, a new milestone, every day. It's difficult to comprehend, even though I'm obviously honored and grateful."
The success of the Netflix movie, which also features Liza Koshy, Ken Jeong, and Daniel Dae Kim, has made their lives much "busier," Audrey acknowledged.
"It's been quite busy," Audrey said. "Much less time to relax." Quite crazy. I believe that all of my family members have asked me to sign things for their coworkers and things like that.”
"Family is going crazy in Korea; it's insane," Rei concurred.
The stars of the movie were thrilled for fans to see glimpses of their real selves in their VMA appearances, despite the drastic change. For her part, Audrey even embraced her inner Mira by donning a puffy jacket that echoed a pivotal scene in the movie, in which her character shows off her coolness by showing up to the Met Gala in a sleeping bag.
Audrey mentioned that her favorite parts of her ensemble were the traditional Korean Binyeo hairpiece she wore with it. "We are lucky enough to be seeing the voices of the characters from K-Pop Demon Hunters," she said, referring to the actresses showcasing their real-life appearances.
