Kelly Clarkson has joined a growing list of artists who have sold a stake in their music catalogs. The 43-year-old Grammy-winning singer and talk show host reached an agreement with HarbourView Equity Partners, a multi-strategy investment firm, to sell a portion of her musical work.
The announcement was made on Thursday, July 24. Although the financial details of the deal were not disclosed, Clarkson expressed her gratitude in a statement, saying that her music represents a significant part of her personal and professional journey. She shared how much it means to her that the songs will continue to reach new listeners in the years to come and thanked HarbourView for their belief in the value of her catalog.
Among the hits included in the acquisition are some of her most well-known songs, such as "Since U Been Gone," "Because of You," "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)," "Behind These Hazel Eyes," and "Underneath the Tree." Sherrese Clarke, founder and CEO of HarbourView Equity Partners, praised Clarkson as a unique artist whose voice and songwriting have made a lasting impact on music and culture.
Clarke also acknowledged Clarkson's wide-ranging talent in entertainment and described her songs as anthems that have helped define moments for millions of fans.
Since her rise to fame in 2002 as the first winner of American Idol, Clarkson has sold over 25 million albums and 40 million singles worldwide. She has achieved 17 singles with multi-Platinum, Platinum, or Gold certifications and received numerous accolades, including American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, and eight Daytime Emmy Awards as host of The Kelly Clarkson Show.
In addition to her catalog sale, Clarkson was recently confirmed as a returning judge on The Voice for its upcoming 29th season, alongside John Legend and Adam Levine. The season will premiere in spring 2026 and is expected to include major changes to the format.
Clarkson also began her second Las Vegas residency earlier this month at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. However, she had to cancel the first two shows scheduled for July 4 to protect her vocal cords, citing that the preparation and rehearsals had strained her voice. Upon her return to the stage on July 11, she celebrated with a shot of tequila and told the crowd how emotional and difficult it had been to cancel, expressing her happiness to be back performing.
