Ellen DeGeneres has admitted she misses hosting television and hinted at the possibility of pursuing new projects in the United Kingdom, four years after her long-running daytime talk show ended.

The 68-year-old comedian made the comments during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, which aired Friday, October 16. DeGeneres, who relocated to the English countryside with her wife, Portia de Rossi, in 2024, revealed that she misses several aspects of working in television.

"I've nothing really going on and I really miss being on TV," she said. "I miss a lot about it — laughing with the writers and the audience. I think about doing stuff here."
DeGeneres also joked that finding a television presenting job in Britain might not be particularly difficult, pointing to the country's variety of entertainment programmes.

"I think it is pretty easy to get on TV here," she said. "You have a pottery show, you have a sewing show, and you even have a show about people watching TV shows."
Her remarks come after she previously expressed interest in hosting a talk show in the U.K. During a July 2025 conversation with broadcaster Richard Bacon in Gloucestershire, she said she would welcome the opportunity but questioned whether traditional television remained as popular in an era dominated by smartphones and online entertainment.

DeGeneres' flagship programme, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, ended in May 2022 after 19 seasons. Its final years were overshadowed by allegations of a toxic workplace, prompting an internal investigation and an apology from the comedian to staff members.

During her conversation with Norton, DeGeneres also reflected on the reception of her 1997 coming-out episode on the sitcom Ellen. She recalled receiving a warmer response in Britain than in the United States after publicly coming out as gay.

"In the U.S., they were not very thrilled about my character or me coming out, so for it to be celebrated in London was such an honor," she said. "To be treated that way when everyone else was done with me was extraordinary."

Following the end of her talk show, DeGeneres pursued stand-up comedy and released the Netflix special For Your Approval in 2024, which she described as her final comedy special.
