Tom Hardy's time on MobLand appears to be over. The actor has been fired from the Paramount+ crime drama following a series of on-set clashes during the production of its second season, sources told Variety on Friday. The reported disputes involved executive producer Jez Butterworth, 101 Studios and others connected to the show.
According to Puck, which first broke the news, Hardy's behavior during Season 2 filming created significant friction behind the scenes. The outlet reported that Hardy repeatedly arrived late to set, offered unsolicited script notes and made unscripted dialogue changes during production. He was also said to be unhappy about his place within an ensemble cast rather than carrying the show as a clear-cut lead.
The tension reportedly grew severe enough that Butterworth threatened to quit the series entirely before Hardy was ultimately let go. Season 2 has completed filming, though a premiere date has not yet been announced. The show has not been renewed for a third season.
Hardy starred in MobLand as Harry Da Souza, a calculating fixer working for the Harrigans, an Irish crime family based in London. The show, which premiered in spring 2025, quickly became one of Paramount+'s most-watched series, with a cast that includes Pierce Brosnan as patriarch Conrad Harrigan and Helen Mirren as matriarch Maeve.
Hardy had previously spoken enthusiastically about the direction of the series, telling The Hollywood Reporter that Season 2 would broaden its scope considerably, touching on the international networks that control the flow of drugs, weapons and other commodities across Europe and beyond.
The firing marks a dramatic turn for what had been one of the actor's most acclaimed recent television projects. Hardy has faced well-documented personal challenges in recent months, having made a public health announcement last year in which he said his condition was "not going to get better."
