A legend has departed from the NASCAR community.

According to the organization, two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and one of the most successful drivers in the sport's history, Kyle Busch, passed away at the age of 41.

"The loss of Kyle Busch has devastated our entire NASCAR family," NASCAR said in a statement to X on May 21. Kyle was a once-in-a-generation talent who would go on to become a Hall of Famer. He was extremely talented, fierce, passionate, and completely invested in the sport and its supporters.

"Over a career spanning more than two decades, Kyle set records in national series wins, won championships at NASCAR's highest level, and fostered the next generation of drivers as an owner in the Truck Series," the organization continued. The proud and devoted "Rowdy Nation" was formed as a result of his keen humor and competitive energy, which ignited a profound emotional connection with race fans of all ages.

In fact, two Cup Series championships, consecutive victories at the Brickyard 400, and being awarded Rookie of the Year in the NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Nextel Cup Series were just a few of his numerous honors.

Samantha Busch, whom Kyle married in 2010, and their children, Brexton, 11, and Lennix, 4, survive him.

In their statement, NASCAR stressed, "NASCAR lost a giant of the sport today, far too soon." We kindly request that everyone respect the family's privacy at this extremely trying time and keep them in your thoughts and prayers. We'll provide more information as needed.

Following Kyle's passing, several NASCAR community members expressed that they were "shocked and saddened."

In a statement, USA Sports said, "Kyle was a generational talent that so many members of our production and editorial teams had the privilege of covering and interacting with throughout his incredible NASCAR career." "During this trying time, our thoughts are with the Busch family and the entire motorsports community."

Kyle's family tweeted earlier in the day that he was hospitalized due to a "severe illness."

In a statement to X, the family said, "He is undergoing treatment and will not compete in any of his scheduled activities this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway." "As our family works through this situation, we ask for understanding and privacy."

Richard Childress Racing, Kyle's racing team, also expressed their support for his family.

The organization posted on X, "Kyle Busch's health is our top priority, and he and his family have the full resources of RCR behind them." "Kyle is a vital member of our team, and we hope he recovers quickly and safely."
