Donald Trump has said he is unsure whether he will attend the upcoming wedding of his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., citing ongoing international tensions and his presidential responsibilities.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump confirmed that Don Jr. and his fiancée, Bettina Anderson, are expected to marry during Memorial Day weekend in the Bahamas. However, he suggested his schedule may prevent him from attending the ceremony.

"He'd like me to go, but it's going to be just a small, little private affair," Trump said. "I'm gonna try and make it."

The president added that current global events, particularly the conflict involving Iran, have complicated his plans. "I said, 'You know this is not good timing for me. I have a thing called Iran and other things,'" he told reporters.

Trump also joked about the scrutiny surrounding whatever decision he makes. "That's one I can't win on," he said. "If I do attend, I get killed. If I don't attend, I get killed — by the fake news, of course."

According to reports, Don Jr., 48, and Anderson, 39, are set to exchange vows during a private ceremony on an island in the Bahamas attended by close family and friends. The couple announced their engagement in December 2025 during a White House holiday event, where Trump introduced them before Don Jr. addressed guests.

"I'm not usually at a loss for words, because I'm usually doing the ranting and raving really well," Don Jr. said at the time. "I want to thank Bettina for that one word: 'Yes.'"

Anderson also spoke during the celebration, calling it "the most unforgettable weekend" and adding, "I get to marry the love of my life, and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world."

Reports also suggested the couple had considered hosting a White House wedding before deciding on a smaller event due to concerns about public reaction during ongoing global conflicts. One insider reportedly said they were aware "that a lavish wedding at the White House while people are dying wouldn't be well-received."
