Britney Spears' representative has pushed back against reports claiming the pop star acted erratically during a recent dinner outing in Los Angeles, insisting the situation was exaggerated and unfairly portrayed.
The controversy began after reports surfaced alleging Spears, 44, caused a disturbance while dining at Blue Dog Tavern in Sherman Oaks on May 13.
According to accounts shared online, some diners claimed the singer was "screaming," "barking," and walking around the restaurant holding a knife, leading to concerns among patrons.
Entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider posted on X that he was dining near Spears during the outing and described it as a "WILD experience."
In another post, he claimed, "She just left and everyone in the restaurant turned and started talking about it. An INSANE dining experience. One diner feared for her life. This is not a joke...."
However, Spears' representative strongly denied the accusations in statements shared with several media outlets on May 14.
"This is completely blown out of proportion," the representative said. "Britney was enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard."
The statement explained that Spears was merely recounting a story involving her dog. "She was simply telling the story about how her dog was barking at the neighbors."
The rep also dismissed claims that Spears was threatening anyone with a knife. "At no point did she put anyone in danger with a knife," the statement continued. "She was cutting her hamburger in half."
Spears' team further criticized the intense scrutiny surrounding the singer, comparing it to the media treatment she faced years ago during some of the most difficult moments of her life.
"This constant attack on everything that she does and this is exactly what happened 20 years ago when the media tried to depict Britney as a bad person. This is ridiculous and it needs to stop now."
Earlier this month, Spears pleaded guilty through her attorney to a reduced "wet reckless" charge following her March arrest on suspicion of DUI in California. As part of the agreement, she was sentenced to probation, ordered to attend a DUI program and continue treatment with mental health professionals.
