The high-profile legal clash between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni may have reached a headline-making settlement, but the courtroom drama surrounding the It Ends With Us co-stars is far from fully resolved.

While both parties agreed to settle Lively's original lawsuit just weeks before trial, legal experts say the next phase will likely hinge on lingering motions, financial

recoveries and broader reputational stakes. Notably, Lively's legal team continues to pursue attorneys' fees and damages tied to Baldoni's previously dismissed countersuit, a move that could extend proceedings despite the settlement.

The dispute, which began in late 2024, exposed a web of allegations including harassment, retaliation and defamation. Baldoni, along with his production company Wayfarer Studios, denied the claims and filed a massive countersuit accusing Lively and her inner circle, including Ryan Reynolds, of orchestrating a campaign to damage his career. That countersuit was later thrown out, but not without leaving legal and strategic questions behind.

Now, attention shifts to how each side leverages the aftermath. Lively's attorneys are expected to argue that the dismissed countersuit falls under protective laws designed to shield accusers from retaliatory litigation. Baldoni's team, however, has already signaled resistance, challenging both the applicability of such statutes and the jurisdictional scope of the claims.

Beyond motions and filings, industry observers are watching how both stars navigate the reputational fallout. The legal battle pulled back the curtain on private communications and alleged media strategies, drawing in references to high-profile figures like Taylor Swift and amplifying scrutiny across Hollywood.

Despite a joint statement emphasizing shared pride in their film and a commitment to raising awareness around serious issues, insiders suggest the settlement does not mark a clean break. Financially, neither side is believed to have gained from the agreement, while legal costs reportedly soared.

With at least one key ruling still pending, the case remains a cautionary tale of how settlements can close one chapter,  while quietly opening another.
