Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion has announced she is cutting her historic Broadway run in Moulin Rouge! The Musical short, moving her final performance up by more than two weeks. In a statement released on April 28, 2026, the artist confirmed that her last turn as the nightclub impresario Zidler will take place on Friday, May 1, at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.

Megan made her Broadway debut on March 24, 2026, in a groundbreaking casting move that saw her become the first female-identifying performer to play the role of Harold Zidler in any production of the show worldwide. Originally scheduled for an eight-week limited engagement through May 17, the early exit has surprised fans and industry insiders alike, particularly given the box-office boost her presence provided the Tony-winning production.

In an emotional message shared with her followers on Instagram, the “Hotties” rapper expressed deep gratitude for the experience. “It’s been such an honor to be part of thee Moulin Rouge family,” she wrote. “Y’all work so hard and I have so much respect for the

dedication, the stamina, the work ethic, the time and the effort y’all put into the work!” She further noted that the cast and crew had inspired her to “go harder as an entertainer.”

While her official statement did not specify a reason for the early departure, her tenure on Broadway was marked by both professional triumphs and personal challenges. In early April, Megan was briefly hospitalized for extreme exhaustion and dehydration after nearly fainting mid-performance. At the time, she described the incident as a “scary wake-up call” from her body. Additionally, news of her early exit follows a highly publicized breakup with her boyfriend, which unfolded across social media just days prior to her announcement.

The production has not yet announced who will fill the role of Zidler between May 2 and May 17, though veteran actor Eric Anderson is slated to return to the character on May 19. Megan’s run was a high-profile highlight for the musical, which recently extended its engagement through August 30, 2026, before it officially closes its celebrated seven-year Broadway run.

Despite the shortened stay, Megan’s crossover into musical theater, which included performing a medley of her own hits like “Savage” during the curtain call, is being hailed as a triumph for modern Broadway casting. For fans who missed the chance to see her live, the “Hot Girl Broadway” era remains a significant, albeit brief, milestone in the rapper’s evolving career.
