Sydney Sweeney's planned appearance in The Devil Wears Prada 2 has been removed from the final cut of the film following what sources describe as a "creative decision" during editing.

According to multiple reports, the 28-year-old actress had filmed a brief role alongside Emily Blunt for the highly anticipated sequel. The scene was intended to appear early in the movie and would have shown Sweeney playing herself as a celebrity client being styled at Dior.

In the sequence, the storyline follows Andy Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway, alongside Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) and Nigel Kipling (Stanley Tucci), who visit Emily Blunt's character at Dior in New York. While there, they reportedly encounter Sweeney during a styling session.

However, the scene did not make it into the final version of the film. Entertainment Weekly reported that the decision was made because the moment did not "work structurally with the final version of the movie's sequence."

Another source explained that the team felt the segment "felt out of place with the sequence they were going for," despite appreciation for Sweeney's involvement in the project.

The actress had reportedly filmed a short scene lasting around three minutes, but it was ultimately cut during post-production. A scribe for the film also confirmed that Sweeney does not appear in the final release.

One insider noted that although the scene was removed, "the team working on the movie was grateful for her participation," and described the decision as a difficult one rather than a reflection of performance or contribution.

Rumours of Sweeney's involvement first emerged after she was spotted near the film's New York set during production. At the time, speculation increased after behind-the-scenes clips and images circulated online, though the actress did not confirm her role.

The sequel continues the story from the 2006 original, which followed Andy Sachs navigating the high-pressure world of fashion under Miranda Priestly. The new film brings back its original core cast, including Hathaway, Streep, Tucci, and Blunt, while introducing new additions such as Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Rachel Bloom, and Simone Ashley.

Other reported cameos in the film include appearances by several public figures, though details remain closely guarded ahead of its release.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to premiere in theatres on May 1.
