Alan Osmond, the eldest member of the family group The Osmonds, has died at the age of 76.

He passed away on the evening of April 20, surrounded by his wife Suzanne and their eight sons, according to a family spokesperson. Reports indicate he had been living with multiple sclerosis for decades, a condition that led him to step away from performing years earlier.

Alan played a central role in shaping The Osmonds, helping guide the group from its early beginnings into international success. He performed alongside his brothers Wayne, Merrill and Jay before the group later expanded, becoming a well-known name in pop music. Known for both his leadership and creativity, he contributed to songwriting and production throughout the group's career.

His brother Merrill Osmond paid tribute, sharing memories of their final moments together. "It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of my beloved brother, Alan Osmond," he said. "I was grateful to be with him shortly before he passed and to share a final meaningful moment together."

Reflecting on their last conversation, Merrill wrote, "We talked as brothers do, heart to heart. He was struggling, but when I shared a joke or two, he found the strength to chuckle... and then he smiled."

He also spoke about Alan's character and faith, saying, "His life was not measured in years, but in love, sacrifice, and purpose," and encouraged fans not to mourn in sorrow, adding, "Don't weep for him. Rejoice... He is free. He is whole. He is home."

Beyond music, Alan remained active in other areas, including charitable work. He helped create the Children's Miracle Network Telethon, which has raised billions for children's hospitals, and was also involved in initiatives supporting vulnerable communities.

A spokesperson for the family described him as someone whose warmth left a lasting impression, saying, "Upon meeting the entertainer, an ever-ready smile was ever prevalent," adding that "others' importance seemed to outshine his own."

Alan is survived by his wife of 51 years, their eight sons, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His legacy remains closely tied to both his contributions to music and the impact he had on those around him.
