Actress Tori Spelling has shared her first public comments after being involved in a serious car crash in Temecula, California, just days before Easter, with seven children in the vehicle.
Spelling revealed that she was driving with four of her own children and three of their friends when their car was struck by another driver. According to her account, the other vehicle was moving at high speed and may have run a red light, leading to the collision.
"I just wanted to reach out to everyone. This took me a bit to post, because as most of you know, four of my kids and I and three of their friends were in a car accident a few days before Easter in Temecula [California]," she said in a video shared on Instagram.
Describing the moments leading up to the crash, Spelling said, "The driver that hit us was speeding, was going crazy, crazy fast. We believe he went through a light." She added that she reacted quickly to try and protect the children: "In a split second, I saw that he was coming full-on impact into the side of our car and I turned left as hard as I could, as fast as I could, to avoid as much impact on the children as possible. He spun us out."
All seven children were taken to the hospital following the crash, where they were treated for injuries including cuts, contusions and concussions. Despite the severity of the incident, Spelling confirmed that everyone is now recovering.
"We're okay, but it's been really overwhelming," she said. "We are so grateful and so lucky because it could have been so much worse."
She also reflected on how close the situation came to being more serious, saying, "Guardian angels were definitely with us that day," adding that she felt fortunate the outcome was not worse given the circumstances.
Spelling took time to thank emergency responders and medical staff who assisted at the scene and during treatment. "I just want to thank all of the first responders on the scene, and to Inland Valley ER in Wildomar. They took such good care of all of the kids and myself," she said.
She further expressed appreciation to those who reached out with support, adding, "Thank you everybody... just so much gratitude for life and the bravery of all of the kids in the car with what they went through."
Authorities from the Riverside County Sheriff's Office are continuing to investigate the crash, including the actions of the other driver involved.
