Lola Young is opening up about her health and lifestyle changes following a period away from the public eye.

The "Messy" singer shared an encouraging update in an interview with The Times of London published on March 28, reflecting on her recovery after stepping back from performing in the wake of a medical incident that occurred on stage late last year. She described her current state as improved while noting that the process is still ongoing.

She explained that she prefers to keep details of her situation private but emphasized that recovery is not something with a clear endpoint. According to her, she is not fully "finished" with the process, but she is doing significantly better than before and continuing to focus on her wellbeing.

Young also clarified that she is in "drugs recovery," adding that recovery can refer to a range of experiences depending on the individual. In her case, she confirmed that it specifically relates to substance-related recovery. Her remarks suggest a broader commitment to personal change and maintaining a more stable routine.

The update follows an incident at the All Things Go music festival in New York in September, where she appeared unwell during a live performance. While singing her track "Conceited," she seemed to indicate that she might faint, and moments later she lost her balance, dropped her microphone, and fell backward. Members of her team quickly assisted her off stage.

After the incident, she informed fans that she was okay, but she later cancelled her scheduled appearance at the festival's Washington, D.C. stop. In a message shared on social media at the time, she expressed regret to those who had been looking forward to her performance and apologized for any disappointment caused. She also asked for understanding and hoped to return in the future.

Following that period, Young announced an indefinite pause from performing, stating that she needed time away to focus on herself. She thanked fans for their support and expressed a desire to come back when she felt ready and stronger.

Earlier in 2026, she returned to the stage at the Grammy Awards, marking a significant moment in her comeback. She also received recognition at the ceremony, highlighting her continued growth both personally and professionally as she moves forward in her recovery journey.
