Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, the 35-year-old Florida woman accused of opening fire on Rihanna’s Los Angeles mansion, has officially pleaded not guilty to a series of high-level felony charges. Appearing in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, Ortiz entered her plea through a public defender following a specialized investigation into the March 8 shooting.

Ortiz, a resident of Orlando and a licensed speech pathologist, faces a total of 14 felony counts, including one count of attempted murder, 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and three counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling. Prosecutors allege that on the afternoon of March 8, Ortiz drove to the singer’s Beverly Hills-area residence and discharged approximately 20 rounds from an AR-15-style rifle.

The gravity of the charges is underscored by the fact that the entire family was present during the attack. District Attorney Nathan Hochman confirmed that Rihanna and her partner, A$AP Rocky, were together in an Airstream trailer on the property at the time of the gunfire. Meanwhile, their three young children, Rihanna’s mother, and several staff members were inside the main residence. While multiple bullets struck the exterior gate and a trailer, miraculously, no one was injured.

During Wednesday’s hearing, Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott successfully argued against a bail reduction, describing the shooting as “calculated” and “extremely dangerous.” Bott revealed that when Ortiz was apprehended shortly after the incident, she was found in possession of the rifle, additional ammunition, and a wig she reportedly intended to use as a disguise. “This is the kind of conduct that easily could have resulted in numerous homicides,” Bott told the court.

Judge Theresa McGonigle ordered Ortiz to remain in custody on $1.875 million bail and issued a formal protective order requiring her to stay at least 100 yards away from the family and their home. Additionally, the judge barred Ortiz from practicing speech pathology during the pendency of the case. If convicted on all counts, Ortiz faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for later this spring to determine if there is sufficient evidence to proceed to a full trial.
