The death of Joshua Allen, best known for winning season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance, has officially been ruled a suicide, authorities confirmed.

Allen died on Sept. 30, 2025, at the age of 36. According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office, his cause of death was listed as blunt force injuries. Earlier reports indicated that the dancer had been struck by a train in Fort Worth, Texas before being transported to a hospital.

Following news of his passing, family members asked for privacy while mourning the sudden loss, as tributes from across the entertainment and dance communities poured in.

Allen rose to fame in 2008 when he won the fourth season of So You Think You Can Dance at just 18 years old. His win launched a career that included appearances in films such as Step Up 3D and the 2011 remake of Footloose, as well as a role on American Horror Story.

In the months since his death, friends and fellow dancers have shared emotional tributes. Choreographer Comfort Fedoke reflected on their long friendship, writing that the pressures of early fame and shared experiences on the show created a bond that few could understand.

"He was unforgettable," another friend, Emmanuel Hurd, shared in a social media post, remembering Allen as a vibrant presence and "one of the realest people."

Allen's passing has also drawn comparisons to the loss of fellow dancer Stephen 'tWitch' Boss, who died in 2022, underscoring ongoing conversations around mental health within the entertainment industry.

Despite personal struggles, many continue to remember Allen for his talent, charisma, and the lasting mark he left on dance television and those who knew him.
