King Charles spent the weekend at Sandringham Estate but did not meet with his brother, the former Prince Andrew, during his visit.
According to PEOPLE, the 77 year old monarch was at the royal residence in Norfolk on Saturday, Feb. 28, and Sunday, March 1. Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, 66, is currently staying at a home on the estate. Despite being on the same property, the two did not see each other, and there were no plans for them to do so.
On Sunday, King Charles was photographed attending a service at St. Mary Magdalene Church, located on the Sandringham grounds. His appearance came less than two weeks after Andrew was arrested at the estate.
Andrew was taken into custody on Feb. 19, his 66th birthday, on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The arrest took place at the residence where he is staying on the Sandringham Estate. Authorities are investigating allegations that he shared confidential information with the late billionaire and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein while serving as the United Kingdom's trade envoy from 2001 to 2011. Andrew had taken up the role after retiring from the Royal Navy.
The arrest followed a BBC report stating that authorities were examining claims that Andrew provided confidential documents to Epstein during his time as trade envoy. Police have clarified that the arrest is not related to allegations of sexual misconduct. Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein.
On the day of the arrest, King Charles issued a statement confirming that the palace would cooperate fully with law enforcement during the investigation. PEOPLE understands that Buckingham Palace was not informed ahead of Andrew's arrest.
Andrew's association with Epstein first led him to step back from public duties in November 2019. Public attention intensified again following the release of Epstein related files in which Andrew and his former wife, Sarah Ferguson, were mentioned multiple times.
Andrew has also faced longstanding allegations from Virginia Giuffre, who claimed she was forced to have sex with him when she was 17. He has consistently denied her claims. Giuffre died in 2025 at age 41.
Following renewed scrutiny and the publication of Giuffre's memoir last year, Andrew gave up the use of his royal titles and was later formally stripped of them by King Charles. Epstein died in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
