Chrissy Teigen is calming down.

The Star Search judge, who quit alcohol in 2021 before admitting last year that she had "let it back" into her life, opened up about her sobriety journey on Jan. 27. She revealed that it has been 52 days since her last drink.

"After being sober for a little over a year, I went back to drinking," Chrissy, who has four children with husband John Legend, wrote in an Instagram post. "I promised myself it would be 'mindful.' I wanted to be able to enjoy a glass of wine on a date night with my husband, "to be able to toast birthdays."

However, the 40-year-old said that was her "first problem" because what was an isolated dinner drink "went from 6pm to 5, to 4, to aw hell, it’s lunch, why not."

"When it got to 11am, I was like, 'Oh fuck, here we go again,'" Chrissy recalled. "And God, I felt like shit."

When she was "in talks" to join Star Search, which premiered earlier this month, the author of the Cravings cookbook eventually said no. Her words were this: "If I were given the incredible chance to be on the show, there would be absolutely no fucking way I'd do it with alcohol in my dressing room."

"I think the biggest difference between now and the first time is that there's no pomp around it," Chrissy said of her return to sobriety. "The first time I set my foot down, it was EXCITING. The momentum was fun and kept me on track. "The second time... I'm not sure."

Comparing her relationship with alcohol to "an old boyfriend you talked so much shit about to your friends, then you get back together with them," she added, "I dunno if everyone around you kind of loses faith or if you do yourself, or a mix of both."

Regardless, the former Lip Sync Battle host stated that she has "no desire to turn back."

"Turns out, without it, I can still be funny," she told me. "Still be stupid. Still be extremely nervous. Anxious as a motherfucker. And I can get through everything without it."

In a recent episode of her Self-Conscious podcast, Chrissy explained why she isn't afraid to discuss the ups and downs of her journey.

"Nothing makes me more proud than hearing someone's story of sobriety and seeing the difference in their eyes," she told guest Carl Radke, who has also spoken openly about his own addiction struggles. "It is beautiful. It is contagious.
