Bebe Rexha has jokingly suggested she might ask Taylor Swift to manage her pop career. Over the weekend, the 36-year-old singer shared a series of posts on X reflecting on her place in the music industry and poking fun at her own success level. She responded to a fan's suggestion that Swift, also 36, could take on the role of her manager with the comment, "That's actually genius."
The conversation began when Rexha shared a meme of the Grim Reaper preparing to unlock her door after freeing other pop stars, including Tinashe, Tate McRae, Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX and Zara Larsson, from what internet users jokingly call the "Khia Asylum." The term refers to a supposed place where pop stars are kept until they achieve major success, named after rapper Khia. Rexha captioned the meme, "Guys
please help me. It's so lonely in here," highlighting the comedic side of her career frustrations.
She also posted a voice memo titled "Khia asylum day 3051," in which she acted as if trapped in the fictional asylum. In the clip, she joked about being stuck running on a treadmill in high heels while watching others escape. "I heard Sabrina got out. Zara, Charli, they left. They never looked back. And my fat ass, flop ass is still in here," she said, blending humor with commentary on her struggles in the industry.
In addition to her comedic posts, Rexha responded to fans and critics about her career. She confirmed that she is no longer signed to Warner Records and is now operating independently. Fans suggested different ideas for her next steps, including the proposal that Swift could manage her, which Rexha embraced playfully.
The two artists have met in the past. In a 2019 interview with PEOPLE, Rexha recalled chatting with Swift at the MTV VMAs. She described the interaction as "really nice," noting that Swift made her feel appreciated and genuine, even though they did not know each other well.
Rexha's last album, Bebe, was released in 2023, and her most recent single, a collaboration with Netsky titled "Light That Leads Me," came out in 2025. While her comments about Swift were made in jest, they reflect Rexha's playful approach to navigating the music industry and her openness to new ideas as an independent artist.
