Britney Spears has opened up about her Instagram dancing videos and her future as a live performer, revealing that she has no plans to ever perform in the United States again while hinting at possible international shows alongside one of her sons.

On Thursday, Jan. 8, the 44-year-old pop star shared a throwback photo from her performance of "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" at the 29th Annual American Music Awards in 2002. In the caption, Spears explained that her widely discussed Instagram dance videos serve a deeper purpose than many realize.

"Interestingly enough, I dance on IG to heal things in my body that people have no idea about," she wrote. "Yup and it's embarrassing sometimes... but I walked through the fire to save my life."

In the same post, Spears made it clear that a return to American stages is not part of her future plans. "I will never perform in the U.S. again because of extremely sensitive reasons," she stated. However, she suggested she may perform abroad, adding that she hopes to be "sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair, in a bun, performing with my son... in the UK and AUSTRALIA very soon."

Calling her son "a huge star," Spears added, "I'm so humbled to be in his presence!!! God speed, little man!!!" She did not specify which of her two sons — Sean Preston, 20, or Jayden, 19 — she was referring to, though she has frequently praised Jayden's musical talent in the past.

Spears also mentioned plans to send her son a white piano that she previously used during the 2002 American Music Awards performance. She has previously spoken about Jayden's abilities, writing, "He's a genius and I'm in awe of him !!! I can't believe he's mine !!! I was honestly scared that's not normal !!!"

The singer recently shared a selfie with Jayden on Instagram, and a source previously said she spent Christmas with him, describing the holiday as "such a special" time for the pair. Sean Preston, meanwhile, celebrated the holidays with his aunt Jamie Lynn Spears and grandmother Lynne Spears.

While Spears remains firm about stepping away from U.S. performances, her comments suggest music is still part of her future — just on her own terms and possibly alongside her son on an international stage.
