Meghan Markle and Prince Harry continue to redefine their post-royal chapter through storytelling. Since signing with Netflix in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have steadily carved out a space in the entertainment industry, balancing personal narratives with broader, audience-friendly projects. Each announcement has arrived with curiosity, speculation, and a close eye from both Hollywood and the public.
Their Netflix journey has not been without pressure. Reports over the summer suggested uncertainty around their future with the platform, especially as streaming services recalibrated long-term deals. Yet the Sussexes stayed quiet, choosing action over response. When August arrived, so did confirmation of a renewed partnership built around a first-look deal for film and television through Archewell Productions.
That context makes their latest move especially telling.
According to PEOPLE, Meghan Markle, 44, and Prince Harry, 41, are producing a Netflix adaptation of The Wedding Date, the bestselling novel by Jasmine Guillory. The project will be developed under Archewell Productions alongside producer Tracy Ryerson, with Deadline reporting the news on December 16. The shift toward scripted romantic storytelling marks a new direction for the couple's growing slate.
