Guy Fieri is recovering from a horrific freak accident. The Food Network star was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery after missing a set of stairs and tearing his quad.

"[I] slipped down a set of steps, and one foot went forward, while the other foot got caught on the threshold," Guy told Fox News Digital in an interview published on November 24. "So, you know, it extended my reach. I appeared to be doing the splits, but when my right leg compressed into itself at the giveaway point, the doctor said he'd never seen—you know, in 20 years—a tear in the biggest, thickest part of your quad in half."

The 57-year-old said he needed to go through with the treatment to ensure that his muscle did not "recede."

"You normally tear that muscle at your tendon, or the tendon tears off the bone," he told me, "but this was right in the center of the whole quad muscle, and it exploded."

The Guy's Grocery Games presenter, who now uses a wheelchair and crutches to get around, was in the middle of filming his new series, Flavor Town Food Fight, when the tragedy occurred, forcing the entire cast and crew to adjust.

"We've got everybody in town and all the chefs there and 125 people on set, and everybody's ready to go, and I'm in surgery," Guy shared. "So, we figured out how to pivot through it and to have some creative filming techniques. But it's been a run, and now I'm up here at the ranch, where it's always about hiking and outdoors, and you know, beautiful."

Guy Fieri, the host of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, is currently facing a recovery period where he must keep weight off his leg for eight weeks prior to beginning rehabilitation. Expressing eagerness to return to his normal activities, he acknowledges the challenging process ahead. Reflecting on his past history of injuries, Fieri humorously recalls breaking multiple bones in his youth, indicating a change in his behavior and lifestyle since then.

Due to his recovery restrictions, Fieri will be relying on his sons, Hunter (29) and Ryder (19), along with his nephew, Jules, to assist with Thanksgiving dinner preparations. He shared a lighthearted moment about how Ryder has taken on cooking responsibilities at school and is now ready to take the lead in the family kitchen. With his three boys, all of whom can cook, Fieri plans to guide them from his wheelchair as they prepare a feast for around 40 guests, hinting at what promises to be a lively cooking adventure amidst his new circumstances.
