Pop superstar Taylor Swift has quietly donated $100,000 to a GoFundMe campaign helping a young fan, 2-year-old, Lilah Smoot, who is battling a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. Swift’s donation was made on October 17, 2025, and included a handwritten note underneath the contribution saying: “Sending the biggest hug to my friend, Lilah! Love, Taylor.”
Lilah’s caregiver, her mother Katelynn Smoot, had posted a heartfelt TikTok video earlier in October, showing her daughter watching Taylor’s videos and referring to Swift as her “friend.” In the clip, Lilah danced and smiled while music from Swift played in the background, and the mom shared the family’s hope that her daughter could one day attend a Taylor Swift concert. The video went viral, drawing attention to Lilah’s health battle and the GoFundMe campaign set up earlier this year.
Lilah’s treatment has been exhausting and costly. According to the campaign, she is fighting stage-4 brain cancer, first discovered after a seizure when she was just 18 months old. Doctors removed a tumor, but she remains in treatment, including months of chemotherapy, stem-cell therapy, and proton radiation necessitating long hospital stays, travel to specialty facilities, and time away from home for her parents. The family had set a fundraising goal of $100,000 and Swift’s contribution pushed them over that mark.
In the days following the donation, Katelynn posted a video of Lilah dancing and shared her overwhelming gratitude, saying: “We don’t have to worry about anything other than Lilah. Truly such a blessing.” Lilah herself was seen clasping her hands and softly mouthing, “Thank you Taylor.”
This isn’t the first time Taylor Swift has made a significant donation to a personal medical campaign. Her philanthropic record includes past contributions to children’s causes, disaster relief and educational support. But this gesture showed her one-on-one connection with a fan, meeting in a moment of vulnerability and hope.
