Hollywood legend William Shatner was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital this week after suffering a medical scare at his home. The 94-year-old actor, best known for portraying Captain James T. Kirk in the Star Trek franchise, reportedly experienced issues with his blood sugar late Wednesday afternoon.

According to reports, Shatner himself called emergency medical services when he realized something was wrong. A Los Angeles Fire Department ambulance arrived at his residence and transported him to a local hospital. Sources close to the actor said he was "doing good" and "resting comfortably" following the evaluation.

This health incident comes after Shatner has been candid about his past medical challenges. In 2024, he revealed he had been diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma after noticing a lump under his ear. "It was melanoma, stage 4," he told Healio. "I said, 'Stage 4?' And someone in the room said, 'Sorry.'" Doctors warned that if the treatment failed, he had only "about 5 months." Surgery and a strict immunotherapy program ultimately made him cancer-free.

The actor has also spoken about living with permanent tinnitus, caused by standing too close to a special effects explosion while filming the Star Trek episode "Arena" in 1967. He once described the experience of being misdiagnosed with prostate cancer in 2016 as "really scary," recalling to NBC News: "I was told by a doctor I had a terminal disease. That I was going to die."

Despite ongoing health issues, Shatner has remained active. At age 90, he became the oldest person to travel to space when he joined Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin mission in 2021, calling the 11-minute flight a "profound experience." Just this month, he announced plans to attend the "Space 2 Sea" convention in the Galapagos Islands alongside astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson and former NASA astronaut Dr. Kathryn Sullivan.

Shatner's career has spanned more than seven decades, beginning in 1951. While Star Trek remains his most iconic role, he also starred in T.J. Hooker, Boston Legal, and films such as Miss Congeniality.

Though his recent hospitalization raised concern, sources insist the actor is recovering well.
