Pete Davidson is taking big steps to prepare for life as a first-time dad while giving back to a cause close to his heart.

The comedian, 31, announced he is raffling off his 1970 Chevrolet K5 Blazer in partnership with Alltroo, a fundraising platform founded by former NFL player Kyle Rudolph. "Hey guys, it's Pete Davidson, and you have an opportunity to win my K5 Blazer with a LS3 fuel-injected engine," he shared in a promotional video. Explaining his decision, he added, "Having a kid, so you can't really drive a kid in a car that sounds like this," before revving the vehicle to show off its roaring engine.

All proceeds from the raffle will go to Answer the Call, a nonprofit that supports families of New York City police officers, firefighters, Port Authority, and EMS personnel who have died in the line of duty. For Davidson, the cause is deeply personal. His father, Scott Davidson, was a New York City firefighter who lost his life responding to the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001. "I am working with Answer the Call because it is my favourite charity," Davidson said. "It's also the charity that helped my family when my dad passed away. They just help firemen and New York City police officers [who] lose a person in the line of duty and they help the families. It's an easy pick for me."

The raffle, which costs $10 to enter, offers fans not only the chance to win Davidson's classic Chevy but also to meet the actor himself. "Working with Alltroo is a no-brainer because it's simply a $10 donation and anyone can win this truck," he explained.

Davidson and girlfriend Elsie Hewitt are currently expecting their first child together. The couple announced the pregnancy on Instagram in June, with Hewitt posting a sonogram photo captioned, "Welp now everyone knows we had sex." Since then, Davidson has shared his joy about becoming a father. "I'm stoked. I can't wait. Let's go," he told Late Night With Seth Meyers in August. Speaking to E! News, he added, "I'm very lucky and very, very happy," saying he looked forward to "being able to take care of something and show it the childhood I didn't have."

With a baby on the way, Davidson is embracing change. By letting go of his beloved Blazer and honouring his father's legacy, he is starting his next chapter focused on family and philanthropy.
