Comedian and actor Pauly Shore has revealed that he recently underwent surgery to remove a benign tumour from his pancreas, a health scare that left him both shaken and grateful.

The 57-year-old shared the news with his fans on Instagram on August 27, posting a video from his hospital bed at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Shore explained that the discovery was made after he decided to undergo a full-body scan earlier this year.

"About three months ago, I went in for a preventative scan in Las Vegas," he said. "A week later, they called me with the results. They noticed something in my abdominal area. It was a tumour inside my pancreas."

Doctors confirmed that the mass was benign, though they advised it should be taken out. Shore went into surgery on August 21 at Cedars-Sinai under the care of Dr. Nicholas Nissen. The procedure went well, and he later shared that doctors were able to clear the tumour while leaving his pancreas intact. "I still have my whole pancreas. I stayed one night in the hospital and then three nights at home with pain medication," he explained.

While his physical recovery is progressing, Shore admitted the diagnosis weighed heavily on him. "Mentally, it really messed with me. Knowing there was a tumour inside me... Could it grow? Burst? Turn into something worse? You just don't know," he said.

The actor described the surgery as emotionally overwhelming, at one point calling the growth "a devil that's in me." He also broke down in tears while acknowledging the toll of abdominal surgery, saying, "It's been tough. The aftermath ... is pretty f---ing hard."

Despite the scare, Shore said his instincts to get checked made all the difference. "I've always been on top of my health ... but I had never done a full-body scan. I had no symptoms. This was just me following my instincts. If I hadn't, I might have never found out about the tumour."

Shore stressed that preventative scans, which can cost between $1,000 and $2,000 in the U.S., are often avoided due to cost or fear of results. Still, he urged others to consider them. "My advice to anyone watching this is to get a scan, 'cause you never know what's inside your body," he said.

Now back home and healing, Shore expressed gratitude to his doctors and fans, ending his message simply: "I'm all right, and I'm healing every day. I love you all."
