Taylor Swift has reunited with Max Martin and Shellback to create her upcoming 12th studio album, *The Life of a Showgirl*. The pop star revealed the news on the *New Heights* podcast with her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce, explaining how she used her days off during the European leg of the Eras Tour to get back into the studio with the renowned songwriter-producer duo.

Swift, 35, previously worked with Martin and Shellback on *Red*, *1989*, and *Reputation*, producing hits like "I Knew You Were Trouble," "Shake It Off," and "Blank Space." She shared that during a tour stop in Stockholm, Martin attended one of her shows. The two spoke about collaborating again, with Swift suggesting they record in Sweden with just the three of them. She told him she wanted to create an album she would be as proud of as the Eras Tour. Martin jokingly reminded her of the pressure that would bring.

Reflecting on their time apart, Swift noted that she had explored "alt-folk" styles on *Folklore* and *Evermore*, while Martin and Shellback had pursued other projects. She believes the time away gave all three more range and depth in their craft. Returning to work together now feels different, she said, as they are all equals in the creative process rather than mentor and protégés.

Swift emphasized how much they had all grown since their early collaborations, describing the experience as special and creatively fulfilling. She aimed to bring the best ideas possible to the sessions, driven by a joyful and dramatic period in her life that she says has infused the new record.

Although aware of the high expectations she has placed on the project, Swift expressed confidence and excitement about the result. She teased that the album will feature "bangers" and described it as the record she has wanted to make for a long time.

The Life of a Showgirl is set for release on October 3. Ahead of the announcement, Swift hinted at the reunion with Martin and Shellback through a Spotify playlist showcasing their previous work together. Fans can expect a vibrant return to the big pop sound that first defined their collaborations.
