John Stamos is no stranger to applause, but this week he earned a standing ovation before stepping on stage. When actor Josh Gad tested positive for COVID-19 days before the Jesus Christ Superstar production at the Hollywood Bowl, Stamos swooped in as King Herod with just hours to prepare.

Having just landed from a Beach Boys tour in Spain, Stamos didn't even unpack before diving into rehearsals. "This weekend just got Biblical," he joked on Instagram. Despite the tight timeline, the Full House alum embraced the chaos, donning gold lamé and being fanned by feather-wielding castmates in a now-viral photo.

Cynthia Erivo, who stars in the production, welcomed him warmly, expressing excitement for the show's unexpected twist. "Thank you for stepping in on such short notice," she commented online. The musical runs for only three days, but Stamos's cameo is already legendary.

Josh Gad, while heartbroken, gave his full support. "You're gonna kill it," he commented. "Thank you for wearing the crown in my absence."

The production, a mix of Broadway and Hollywood talent, has become one of the most talked-about events in LA's theater calendar. Stamos's spontaneous participation only amplified the buzz. Though known for his charm and sitcom success, his theatrical chops are equally sharp—something audiences will witness firsthand on the Hollywood Bowl's grand stage.

What started as a potential disaster has become a serendipitous moment of theatrical joy. For Stamos, it's another page in a career defined by versatility—and perhaps, divine timing.
