A new medical diagnosis has been made for one General Hospital star. According to his representative, Tristan Rogers, who debuted on the soap opera in 1980 and went on to make over 1,400 appearances, has been diagnosed with cancer. This information was provided to Deadline.
In a statement released on July 17, the representative told the outlet, "This is a difficult time for Tristan and his family, even though he is still hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan." "The family respectfully requests privacy and understanding as they deal with the mental and physical challenges that accompany this diagnosis."
Along with providing the medical update, Rogers, whose character Robert Scorpio last aired on General Hospital in November, expressed gratitude to his family for the supportive comments they have received.
The representative went on, "They are incredibly appreciative of the love and support that their friends and family have shown them." Tristan wants his fans to know how much he values their support and devotion over the years, and he sends them his love. For him, this support is more important than ever.
The representative also underlined the 79-year-old's wish for privacy as he begins his fight with an unidentified form of cancer, saying, "Future updates will be shared if deemed appropriate by Tristan and his family."
Despite winning a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actor in 2020 for the digital drama series Studio City and appearing in nearly 200 episodes of The Young and the Restless after his General Hospital debut, Rogers has consistently returned to Port Charles over the past 45 years.
When the Australian native returned to his role in 2018 after a two-year break, he told Soap Opera Digest, "Robert has always had kind of a glib approach to everything." "He has a bit of a brilliant tongue."
Rogers went on, "I'm working with a lot of different people, and I think the fans are going to like it."
