Actress Jaime King has found new love amid personal turmoil, getting engaged to financier Austin Sosa following a contentious custody dispute and recent housing troubles.

The 46-year-old Hart of Dixie star recently lost physical custody of her two sons, James, 11, and Leo, 9, to ex-husband Kyle Newman. In a March 2025 ruling, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge granted Newman full physical custody while both parents retained joint legal custody. King, however, was restricted to supervised visitation three times per week, a decision made after she failed to complete a court-mandated rehabilitation program.

The ruling followed Newman's claims, filed in October 2024, that he had found King "strung out" and intoxicated while she was with their children. "My duty as a mother is to protect my children. And that's all that matters to me," King said on the Whine Down podcast in April, describing the ordeal as "terrifying."

Compounding her personal difficulties, King was evicted from her Los Angeles home in early 2025 after amassing over $42,000 in unpaid rent. Her landlord, Sheila Irani, legally repossessed the property, forcing King to seek temporary shelter. According to People, she moved in with Sosa's parents during this period, with sources confirming, "She is very close with his family."

Photos released Monday showed King leaving Sally Hershberger Salon in West Hollywood wearing a diamond ring on her left hand. Though she hasn't publicly confirmed the engagement, she mentioned Sosa in a June 8 Instagram caption thanking him and a few others: "Family forever."

Sosa, a Brigham Young University graduate with a background at Citi, Bank of America, and Merrill Lynch, maintains a relatively low public profile. The couple's relationship marks a shift in King's life, coming just two years after her divorce from Newman was finalized in 2023, ending their 13-year marriage.

Newman, 49, who recently married singer Cyn Nabozny, has accused King of failing to meet child and spousal support obligations, claiming she repeatedly missed payments of $429 and $1,000 per month, respectively. Despite the legal tensions, King has vowed to reform the system that she says unfairly penalized her. "There's no price to pay for freedom," she declared, asserting her intent to challenge what she sees as systemic flaws in family court proceedings.

Though, her personal and financial challenges remain unresolved, this new engagement signals a potential fresh chapter, one she's entering with caution, companionship, and a public still watching closely.
