Miley Cyrus recently opened up about a frightening health scare she experienced while filming a visual component for her upcoming album and film *Something Beautiful*, set to be released on May 30. The 32-year-old Grammy winner, known for her fearless creativity, explained during her May 22 appearance on *Jimmy Kimmel Live* that she ended up in the ICU due to an infection she contracted during a risky shoot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Cyrus wanted to shoot a scene for her song "Walk of Fame" on the actual Hollywood landmark, but her team didn't have the funds to reserve the location officially. Determined to make it happen, she opted to film at night when the area was quiet and deserted. Unfortunately, that decision had unexpected consequences. She developed a severe infection in her knee that landed her in intensive care by Thanksgiving.
"I caught something," she told Kimmel, who pointed out how lucky she was not to end up with a needle stuck in her. "My leg started to disintegrate around the kneecap," she said, describing the alarming state of her injury. When a doctor examined her, he asked what could've caused such a serious infection. She had to admit she'd been rolling around on the Hollywood sidewalk. "To have a surgeon look at you and say, 'Yuck' — and these are people who cut open cadavers — that says a lot," she joked.
Though her ICU stay was brief, she said the ER was so crowded with Thanksgiving-related injuries that the ICU was the only place available. Cyrus has recovered since but won't soon forget the ordeal. "Have you ever been to the Walk of Fame at night? I thought I was going to die there," she laughed.
Reflecting on the project, Cyrus joked that she started out with a "big dream and a small budget," before correcting herself: "Actually, I had a decent budget... I just spent it all on clothes."
The upcoming film, which accompanies the new album, was inspired by the songs themselves. Cyrus said each track tells a story, but she intentionally left the visuals open-ended so fans could attach their own meanings. "The music is the narrative. I'm the character, and I didn't want to be anything I'm not," she explained.
She emphasized that while the film may appear psychedelic and extravagant, at its core, it's all about emotional storytelling. "Something that's about my mom could be about your friend or your partner. It's meant to be universal," she said.
Cyrus ended the segment with a powerful performance of "More to Lose" from the new album, delivering a passionate rendition dressed in black and backed by a live band and dramatic stage lighting.
